Soils, Live Roof™ & Container Media

At Great Lakes Nursery Soils, we take great pride in the quality of our soils.

Our container mix is appropriate for quart size perennials and up to 25 gallon trees. All of our container mixes are carefully blended to meet your growing needs. We will work side by side with you to create a soil that has a consistent p.H., porosity, and moisture holding capacity to ensure you a quality final product.

Additional Soil Information

Standard Container Mix – This mix is a combination of various components which creates a consistent texture and p.H. of 6.0-6.5.

Live Roof™ – This soil is predominately composed of high quality inorganic aggregates, contains a special clay particle to bind nutrients, contains acid rain buffering components, and is formulated with disease suppressive organic material at a level that is consistent with ecologically sustainable soil/plant communities.

Great Lakes Compost - will improve the quality of almost any soil, and for this reason it is most often considered a soil conditioner. GL Compost improves the structure and texture of an existing soil. Our GL Compost allows the soil to better retain nutrients, moisture, and air space for healthier plants. This compost also adds nutrients to your soil. The soil contains a variety of the basic nutrients that plants require for healthy growth. In addition to the main three; nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium. Other benefits, include the micronutrients found in compost such as manganese, copper, iron, and zinc.

Great Lakes Garden Blend - is the best of both words. GL Garden Blend provides a struggling soil with a variety of beneficial nutrients to create the perfect growing media. From planter boxes, growing containers and ground applications, this soil has good drainage and texture for all your growing needs. Our GL Garden Blend contains optimum/acceptable levels of phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, and sodium.
